Tutorial: How to Set Up Twitch Ads to Run When Your Stream Starts Using Mixitup Bot

Introduction:

Running ads at the beginning of your Twitch stream can help eliminate pre-roll ads for your viewers and enhance their viewing experience. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to set up Twitch ads to run automatically when your stream starts, using the Mixitup Bot.

Requirements:

  • Mixitup Bot installed and configured

Step 1: Launch Mixitup Bot Make sure you have Mixitup Bot installed and properly set up on your Twitch channel. If you haven’t done this already, follow the official instructions for installing and configuring the bot to your channel’s settings.

Step 2: Access the Mixitup Bot Menu

  1. Open your Mixitup Bot by clicking on its icon or navigating to the bot’s dashboard.
  2. In the upper left-hand corner of the Mixitup Bot dashboard, you’ll find a menu button. Click on it to access the bot’s menu.

Step 3: Access the Events Section

  1. From the Mixitup Bot menu, select the “Events” option. This will open a list of event types and settings that you can manage.

Step 4: Locate the Twitch Tab

  1. In the Events section, you’ll find various tabs for different streaming platforms. Look for and select the “Twitch” tab since we want to configure events specific to your Twitch channel.

Step 5: Configure the Stream Start Event

  1. Within the Twitch tab, scroll down and find the “Twitch Channel Stream Start” event. This event triggers when your Twitch stream begins.
  2. Click on “Add command” if you haven’t set up any events for your stream start. If you have created other events (e.g., Going Live Notifications for Discord), click on “Edit Command” to modify the existing event.

Step 6: Set Up the Action

  1. In the event settings, you’ll find an “Action” dropdown menu. Select “Twitch” from this menu.
  2. After selecting “Twitch,” click the plus button to proceed with the Twitch-specific settings.

Step 7: Choose the Type of Action

  1. In the “Type” dropdown menu, locate and select “Run Ad.” This setting will ensure that an ad is played when your stream starts.

Step 8: Define the Ad Duration

  1. In the “Amount” section, choose the duration of the ad you want to run at the start of your stream. You can choose from options like 30, 60, 120, or 180 seconds. The recommended choice is to run a 3-minute (180-second) ad at the beginning of your stream to eliminate pre-roll ads for one hour.
    • To do this, select “180” from the dropdown menu.

Step 9: Save Your Settings Once you’ve configured all the settings for your Twitch stream start event, click the “Save” button to confirm your choices.

Conclusion: You’ve successfully set up your Mixitup Bot to run ads at the start of your Twitch stream. This will enhance the viewing experience for your audience by eliminating pre-roll ads for a specified duration. Make sure to test your configuration to ensure it works as expected and enjoy a smoother start to your Twitch streams.
