Tutorial: Setting Visible Follower Goals on Your Live Stream for OBS

Setting visible follower goals on your live stream is an effective way to boost your channel’s visibility and engage with potential regular viewers. Adding a follower goal is an easy call to action, and the great news is that it doesn’t cost your viewers anything. In this guide, we will walk you through two different methods for adding a follower goal to your Twitch stream: directly on Twitch and using third-party apps to add a browser source to OBS (Open Broadcaster Software). Choose the method that suits your streaming setup best.

Adding a Follower Goal on Twitch

Setting a follower goal on Twitch is a straightforward process, and it’s a fantastic addition to your stream. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Start by navigating to your Creator Dashboard on Twitch.
  2. In the Creator Dashboard, locate the “Manage Goals” button under the Quick Actions dropdown menu.
  3. Click on “Manage Goals” to access the goal settings.
  4. A window will pop up where you can configure various follower goal settings, including:
    • The number of followers you want to reach.
    • A description of the goal.
    • Customizing the color of the goal bar.
    • Copying the browser source link if you want to display it in OBS Studio.
  5. Once you’ve entered all the required information, click “Start Goal.”
  6. After you’ve initiated your goal, Twitch will display the follower goal on the “About” page of your channel.

How to Add a Twitch Follower Goal to OBS

If you want to display your follower goal in OBS for your viewers, follow these steps:

  1. Go back to the “Manage Goals” section in your “Creator Dashboard” on Twitch to bring up the follower goal window.
  2. At the bottom of this window, you’ll find a “Browser Source” hyperlink. Copy it.
  3. Open OBS, click on the scene where you want to display the follower goal. Under “Sources,” right-click and select “Browser Source.”
  4. Name the Browser Source as “Follower Goal.”
  5. The properties window will appear. In the URL field, paste the Browser Source link you copied earlier. Enter the recommended width and height for the Browser Source, which is 1480px by 180px.
  6. Click “OK,” and you’ll see the Follower Goal appear in your OBS scene.

If you’re a Twitch affiliate and you’d like to set up some subscriber goals, you can follow a similar process. In the “Manage Goals” section of your Creator Dashboard, use the information provided under the “Subscription Goal” tab.

Now, you’ve successfully added a visible follower goal to your Twitch stream and OBS, helping you engage your audience and encourage more followers to join your channel.
