Tutorial: How to Setup an Image Mask in OBS
Adding an image mask in OBS allows you to creatively shape the appearance of a media layer, providing an engaging visual effect. Here’s a step-by-step guide to adding a circular mask to your webcam source, making it easy for all viewers to follow:
1. Add Two Video Sources Begin by adding two video sources to your OBS project.
2. Ensure Proper Layer Order Make sure that the video layer you intend to use with the image mask is the top layer. Right-click on the desired layer and choose ‘Filters.’
3. Configure Image Mask a. Click the ‘+’ icon under the ‘Effects Filters’ section. b. Select ‘Image Mask/Blend’ and give it a descriptive label. c. Configure the image mask by browsing and selecting the desired image. The mask should be a black and white image, where the black section will be removed from the applied layer. For a circular mask, create a white circle on a black background.
4. Resize and Move Layer a. To resize the layer, select it and click and drag one of the corner handles. b. Once satisfied with the size, click directly on the layer and drag it around the canvas to reposition it.
5. Select Webcam under the Audio Tab Make sure to select the webcam under the audio tab to ensure proper synchronization.
6. Done! Congratulations! You have successfully added a circular image mask to your webcam source. This technique can be applied to any layer within OBS, allowing you to enhance your content with creative visual effects.
