Setting up Sound Alerts

  1. Define Trigger Words:
    • For this example, we’ll create a sound alert triggered by the words “hydrate” and “water.”
  2. Configure Action Group Settings:
    • Name: Set the name to “hydrate.”
    • Group: Specify the group as “hydrate sounds.”
    • Toggle Run: Ensure “Run one randomly” is enabled to play sounds randomly.
  3. Add Sounds to Action Group:
    • In the Action Drop Down, select “SOUNDS” and click the plus icon.
    • Choose “Play Sound” as the action.
    • Download sound effects from a source like www.myinstants.com.
    • Assign the sound to your preferred audio device (e.g., Elgato Wavelink, Steelseries Sonar).
  4. Adjust Volume:
    • Set the volume to a level suitable for your community.
    • Use the play icon to test the sound.
  5. Repeat for Additional Sounds:
    • Repeat the steps to add more sounds that will play randomly.
  6. Save Action Group:
    • Click “Save” to store your configured action group.

Creating the Command

  1. Navigate to Commands:
    • Click on the menu icon in the upper left-hand corner.
    • Select “Commands” from the menu.
  2. Add a New Command:
    • Click “Add new command.”
    • Name it, for example, “hydrate.”
  3. Define Chat Triggers:
    • For chat triggers, use words like “Hydrate” and “Water” for this example.
    • Toggle Wildcard to enable searching entire messages.
  4. Adjust Wildcard Setting:
    • Consider turning off the wildcard for very simple words to avoid unintended triggers. For straightforward words such as “OK,” it’s advisable to deactivate the wildcard feature. Without wildcard enabled, if someone says, for instance, “Ok guys!”, the system will trigger a sound or action. However, if someone says “Look over there,” it won’t activate. Disabling wildcard means the trigger word must be at the beginning of the message; whereas, with wildcard on, it searches the entire message for the trigger word. It’s recommended to disable wildcard unless your trigger words are specific and niche, like “hydrate.”
  5. Save Command:
    • Click “Save” to finalize your command settings.
  6. You’re Done!
    • Now, whenever someone prompts you to hydrate or drink water in the chat, a random sound will play, encouraging you to stay hydrated.
