How to Set Up Twitch Moderation Tools

To set up Twitch moderation tools, you will need to:

  1. Enable AutoMod. AutoMod is a powerful tool that can automatically flag and hold messages that contain potentially inappropriate or harmful content. To enable AutoMod, go to your Creator Dashboard, click Settings, and then click Moderation. Under AutoMod Controls, click Turn On AutoMod. You can then adjust the AutoMod level to fit your needs.
  1. Block hyperlinks. This is a good way to prevent viewers from posting malicious links in your chat. To block hyperlinks, go to your Creator Dashboard, click Settings, and then click Moderation. Under Chat Preferences, check the box next to Block Hyperlinks.
  2. Set a non-mod chat delay. This will give your moderators a chance to review messages before they are displayed in chat. To set a non-mod chat delay, go to your Creator Dashboard, click Settings, and then click Moderation. Under Chat Preferences, enter a desired delay in seconds.
  3. Set up email and phone verification. This will require viewers to have a verified email address or phone number before they can chat in your channel. To set up email and phone verification, go to your Creator Dashboard, click Settings, and then click Moderation. Under Chat Preferences, check the box next to Require Email or Phone Verification.
  1. Create chat rules. Chat rules are a great way to set expectations for your viewers and to communicate what type of behavior is acceptable in your chat. To create chat rules, go to your Creator Dashboard, click Settings, and then click Moderation. Under Chat Rules, click Edit and enter your desired rules. You can also add a link to your chat rules in your channel’s description.

In addition to the above, you may also want to consider using a third-party chat moderation tool. There are many different chat moderation tools available, each with its own unique features. Some popular chat moderation tools include:

  • Nightbot
  • Streamlabs OBS
  • Streamelements
  • MooBot

These tools can provide you with additional features such as:

  • Custom chat commands
  • Banlists
  • Chat filters
  • Keyword alerts
  • Viewer moderation tools

Tips for managing moderation tools:

  • Communicate with your moderators. Make sure your moderators know what is expected of them and that they have the tools and resources they need to do their job effectively.
  • Monitor your chat regularly. Even if you have moderators, it is important to monitor your chat regularly to make sure that everything is running smoothly.
  • Be consistent with your moderation. Enforce your chat rules fairly and consistently. If you see someone breaking the rules, take appropriate action.
  • Be respectful of your viewers. Even if someone is breaking the rules, it is important to be respectful when moderating them.

By following these tips, you can set up and manage Twitch moderation tools effectively. This will help you to create a safe and welcoming environment for your viewers.
