Tutorial: How to Optimize Your Stream with Streamlabs Performance Mode

Introduction:

Starting your streaming journey can be frustrating when faced with issues like dropped frames, poor image quality, or game frame drops. If you’re encountering these problems, your PC might be struggling to keep up with your current settings. To enhance your streaming experience without sacrificing quality, Streamlabs offers a Performance Mode that efficiently allocates resources. In this tutorial, we’ll guide you on enabling and using Performance Mode in your Streamlabs software.

What Is Performance Mode in Streamlabs?

Performance Mode in Streamlabs directs your computer’s major resources to ensure the best streaming quality. It accomplishes this by removing the preview window, which can consume significant resources rendering your game and alerts. By enabling Performance Mode, your computer can allocate resources more efficiently, freeing up power for smooth streaming and gaming.

Pros and Cons of Performance Mode:

The main advantage is improved resource allocation for better streaming performance. However, the drawback is that you won’t be able to see what’s happening on your screen in real-time, which might cause issues if you switch scenes or encounter unexpected black screens.

Enabling Performance Mode:

Here’s how to enable Performance Mode in Streamlabs:

  1. Open the Streamlabs Application on your computer.
  2. Right-click on your scene.
  3. Click on “Performance Mode” from the dropdown menu.

Once enabled, your preview will disappear, leading to improved streaming and gaming performance. Check the bottom left-hand corner of Streamlabs to observe a significant reduction in CPU utilization.

Disabling Performance Mode:

If you want to disable Performance Mode, click the “Disable Performance Mode” button where your preview screen used to be. This will return you to standard Streamlabs.

Alerts in Performance Mode:

Although you won’t see alerts on your PC in Performance Mode, rest assured they are still being rendered and displayed to your audience. If you have sound attached to your alerts, the sound will still be audible when triggered.

Turning Performance Mode On/Off During a Stream:

You can disable Performance Mode during your stream if you need to make scene changes. This won’t end your stream, but if your PC struggles without Performance Mode, you might experience lag and dropped frames during the transition.

Conclusion:

By incorporating Streamlabs Performance Mode, you can significantly enhance your streaming experience. Follow these steps to optimize your settings and provide a smoother and more enjoyable stream for your audience.
