Tutorial: Setting Up Twitch Alerts

Introduction: Alerts play a crucial role in enhancing the streaming experience on Twitch. They keep your audience engaged, increase awareness of community actions, and help build a stronger connection with your viewers. In this tutorial, we’ll guide you through the process of setting up and customizing alerts directly from your Twitch Creator Dashboard.

Setting Up Alerts:

  1. Accessing the Alerts Page:
    • Navigate to the Creator Dashboard.
    • Click on the Alerts page.
    • Choose “Create Alert Set” to initiate the setup process.
  2. Creating Alert Sets:
    • Name your alert set and provide a brief description.
    • Alert sets allow customization for different games, occasions, or locations on your stream.
    • Easily toggle alert sets on/off, delete, or rename them.

Alert Variants:

  1. Previewing Alerts:
    • Click “Edit Alerts” on the desired alert set.
    • Utilize the Preview Alert feature to see how your alerts will appear.
  2. Customizing Variants:
    • Access the alerts editor and create variants for events like Follows, Subscriptions, Hype Trains, etc.
    • Set conditions for alert variants based on specific criteria.
    • Prioritize variants to control which alerts take precedence in case of overlapping conditions.
  3. Organizing Variants:
    • Arrange variants in order of priority to ensure the correct alerts display.
    • Deactivate or activate variants easily using toggles.

Enabling Browser Source:

  1. Integrating with Broadcasting Software:
    • Copy the unique URL of your alert set from the editor.
    • Paste the URL into your broadcasting software as a Browser Source.
    • Ensure dimensions match between the alerts editor and broadcasting software.
  2. Testing Alerts:
    • Use the “Send Test Alert” feature to verify that alerts are set up correctly.
  3. Deactivating Alerts:
    • Toggle off the alert set in the Creator Dashboard to deactivate alerts.

Deleting Alerts:

  1. Deleting Alert Variants:
    • Exercise caution, as deleting variants is irreversible.
    • Go to the specific variant, open the “DANGER ZONE” section, and click “Delete Variant.”
  2. Deleting Alert Sets:
    • Navigate to the alert settings page.
    • Click on the vertical dots menu icon of the alert set and select “Delete.”

Bulk Edit & Duplicate:

  1. Efficient Editing:
    • Use the “Edit Multiple” feature to update settings across multiple variants simultaneously.
    • Duplicate entire alerts to make quick modifications.

Activity Feed:

  1. Managing Alerts in Activity Feed:
    • Enable Live Alerts Controls for added capabilities.
    • Options include skipping, replaying, enabling/disabling specific alerts, and activating “Do Not Disturb” mode.
