Tutorial: A Step-by-Step Guide to Setting Up a Shout Out Command on Twitch with Stream Elements

Introduction:

In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through the process of setting up a Shout Out command on Twitch using Stream Elements. This feature allows you to give a special acknowledgment to fellow streamers or supporters in your community. Let’s dive in!

Step 1: Make StreamElements a Moderator in Your Channel

  • Open your Twitch channel and navigate to Profile Picture -> Creator Dashboard -> Chat Box.
  • In the chat box, type “/mod streamelements” to make StreamElements a moderator in your channel. This is essential for using commands during your stream.

Step 2: Create a Custom Shout Out Command

  • Open your StreamElements dashboard and go to Chat Bot -> Chat Commands -> Custom Commands.
  • Click on “Add New Command” to create a custom command for shout outs.
  • Configure the command settings:
    • Command name: Set it to “!SO” for the shout-out command trigger.
    • User Level: Set to “Moderator” to ensure only you or your moderators can initiate shout outs.
  • In the response section, use the following template or customize it to fit your brand:
  • Let's give a big WARM SHOUTOUT to ${1}, they were playing ${game ${1}} at https://twitch.tv/${1}
  • Select “Activate command” to enable the shout-out command.

Step 3: Activate and Test Your Shout Out Command

  • To test your shout-out command, go to your Twitch chat.
  • Type “!so [Username]” in the chat (replace [Username] with the actual username of the person you want to shout out). Avoid using the “@” symbol before their name to ensure the link works correctly.
  • If set up successfully, the shout-out message should display in the chat.

Wrapping Up:

  • Congratulations! You now have an active shout-out command on your stream, allowing you to express appreciation to those supporting you. Consider using this feature to acknowledge helpful in-game collaborators or generous raiders. Building a community of supportive small streamers who raid each other can contribute to faster growth. Happy streaming!
