Move Transition OBS Plugin by Excedro: How to Install and Use It

The Move Transition OBS Plugin by Excedro is a powerful tool that allows you to create dynamic and creative transitions between scenes in OBS Studio. Using the plugin, you can move, rotate, scale, and fade your sources in any way you like. This can be used to create a wide variety of effects, such as sliding scenes in from the side, zooming in on a particular element, or fading out to a black screen.

How to Install the Move Transition Plugin

To install the Move Transition Plugin, simply download the latest version from the OBS forum thread and extract the contents to your OBS Studio plugins folder. This folder is typically located at C:\Program Files\obs-studio\plugins on Windows or /Applications/OBS Studio.app/Contents/MacOS/Plugins on Mac.

Once the plugin is installed, restart OBS Studio and you should see it listed in the Scene Transitions dock. To add the Move Transition to a scene, simply click the “+” button and select “Move”.

How to Use the Move Transition Plugin

Once you have added the Move Transition to a scene, you can configure it using the Properties window. This window provides a variety of options for controlling how your sources move during the transition.

The most important options are:

  • Start and End Positions: These options control the starting and ending positions of your sources during the transition. You can specify the position of each source individually, or you can group sources together and move them as a unit.
  • Duration: This option controls the duration of the transition in milliseconds.
  • Easing: This option controls how the sources move between the start and end positions. You can choose from a variety of easing functions, such as linear, ease in, ease out, and ease in out.

In addition to these basic options, the Move Transition Plugin also provides a number of advanced features, such as the ability to use keyframes to control the movement of your sources over time and the ability to link the movement of your sources to other properties, such as the volume of an audio source or the brightness of a video source.

Here are a few examples of how you can use the Move Transition Plugin:

  • Slide a scene in from the side: To do this, simply set the Start Position of the scene to be offscreen and the End Position to be centered on the screen. Then, set the Duration to the desired length of the transition.
  • Zoom in on a particular element: To do this, select the element you want to zoom in on and set the Start and End Positions to be the same. Then, set the Start Scale to 100% and the End Scale to the desired zoom level.
  • Fade out to a black screen: To do this, create a new scene with a black background and add the Move Transition to the scene. Then, set the Start Position of the scene to be the same as the current scene and the End Position to be offscreen. Finally, set the Duration to the desired length of the transition.

These are just a few examples of the many possibilities that the Move Transition Plugin offers. With a little experimentation, you can create all sorts of creative and dynamic transitions for your OBS Studio streams.
